Heat-Hardy Courtyard Garden

LOCATION:
Bowral, Southern Highlands NSW

This project was for lovely clients in town. The pavers originally went all the way to the retaining wall and there was just too much ‘yellow’ and glare.

Originally, the clients spoke of re-paving, and we spoke about maybe implementing some patterns in the paving to break the large space. However, after we put forward several concept plans, together we decided the most cost-effective way to break the sea of yellow was to install a narrow garden bed around the area.

We used heat-hardy plants to cope with the albeto (reflected heat) of the wall and paving. We also transplanted existing plants from various areas of the garden and installed strip drain the whole way around to avoid the gardens becoming too wet.
